Bairnsdale Mazda is located at 554 & 489 Princes Hwy Bairnsdale. Construction on the original building began in August 1969 under the watchful eyes of then owners Neville and Deidre Hardy. The building consisted of a small showroom, two bay workshop, parts area and a office/tea room.

Inside the two bay workshop was a young apprentice mechanic by the name of Ray Stephenson. In 1983 Ray & wife Jenny bought the business from Neville & Deidre which was a only a Mazda Dealership, since then Ray has tried his hand at Lada and Kubota, in 1990 Hyundai came on board and has been an integral part of the business ever since.

From Bairnsdale Mazda’s humble beginnings all those years ago many improvements have been made to make the business the great success it is today. Some of the changes that have been made include two upgrades to the workshop, the first one was in 1990 which increased the capacity from a small two bay operation into a six bay workshop, and then in 2002 there was another upgrade, this was made possible by the acquisition of a privately owned business across the highway from the Bairnsdale Mazda and Hyundai showroom. An extension to the rear and major renovations to the front of the building transform this modest workshop into a state of the art establishment. This now includes a very comfortable customer waiting area, large offices and an attractive reception area. The servicing of the vehicles is carry out in a clean and well laid out environment where items have been purchased such as a laser wheel alignment machine, on car disc brake lathe and a automated oil measurement system. This all ensures that the customer’s cars get the highest quality service available.

The showroom has also been extended and the old workshop is being used for a comprehensive detailing bay available for anything from a wash and vacuum to a full detail.
